2016-18 Teen Staff Participant: Ian Wolfe

At Hale’s Electrical Service, Inc. community involvement is key to our success and to our company, “blessing others.”  We have partnered with Dinwiddie County in the various Teen Staffing Programs available to students in the county since 2016. Dinwiddie County’s programs allow students to gain work experience in a field they hope to later make a career in after high school.

Below is a testimonial from Ian Wolfe, a student from the 2016-2017 Teen Staffing Program. Ian will be graduating in 2018 and is a member and President of the Dinwiddie chapter of Junior State of America leading the organization during his senior year and participating in many debates, mock trials, and thought talks on current events and other political topics, as well as being a member and frequent captain for the Dinwiddie High school Scholastic Bowl team, answering various trivia questions in a competitive format. After Graduating Dinwiddie High School, Ian plans on pursuing higher education in Computer Engineering.

During my time as a Web and Media Marketing Admin at Hale’s Electrical Service, I have learned many lessons about performance in the workplace, as well as general life skills and specific information about my chosen field of study of Computer Engineering. My experience at Hale’s has been invaluable and an opportunity I am glad I was afforded and will remember for many years to come. Working for a company like Hale’s has prepared me for my future far more than any other job I could have gotten at my age with my lack of work experience.

While with the Hale’s TEAM, not only did I gain invaluable experience and knowledge, but I also created lasting relationships with my co-workers that I am sure to cherish for a long time.

The connections I have made with these people have helped me better understand how to act appropriately in a working environment. They have also aided me in being more comfortable in sharing ideas and communicating effectively.

Hale’s has taught me how to interact with others efficiently and how to best work with others. While I have developed some teamwork skills throughout my schooling, teamwork in the workplace is a completely different situation that I am glad I now have experience with. An example of something that required heavy teamwork skills was the revamping of the Hale’s Electrical Service website that I helped develop and shape.

In short, my time with Hale’s has been invaluable and has shaped who I am, and who I hope to be in my life. I cannot thank the Teen Staff Program enough for the opportunity.
